Is CoolSculpting Right For You?

Also known as cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting is a revolutionary, non-invasive, and cosmetic medical procedure that removes excess fat from your body. As the name implies, CoolSculpting freezes pesky fat cells, kills them, and then rids them from the body so they cannot return. At Rocky Mountain Dermatology, we can help remove your stubborn body fat and leave you feeling your best. With four convenient office locations in Washington Terrace, North Logan, Marriott-Slaterville, and Brigham City, UT, Drs. Robert Young and Jared Heaton are ready to help. Keep reading to learn more information on the benefits of CoolSculpting.

What is CoolSculpting?

First approved by the FDA in 2010, CoolSculpting is a pioneering cosmetic procedure that focuses on using freezing temperatures to remove fat cells. Since fat cells are more susceptible to cold temperatures, you don't have to worry about other areas of the skin being damaged during the procedure. During a CoolSculpting procedure, Drs. Young and Heaton will use a vacuum-like piece of equipment to cool and numb the targeted area. After the procedure, patients can expect to experience soreness in the area where the CoolSculpting procedure was done, which is similar to a moderate workout. Other reported symptoms include swelling, itchiness, stinging, and firmness. The timeline for visible results can vary, but most patients notice fat loss in the targeted area 4 to 6 months after the CoolSculpting procedure. Is CoolSculpting Right For You?

Although CoolSculpting is not surgery and generally has fewer risks, it remains a medical procedure and should be used by people that are relatively healthy. Additionally, if you are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, you should avoid CoolSculpting because of potential risks and the fact that pregnancy will likely change your body, so any changes made may not be visible after nine months. Furthermore, for the applicator to work there needs to be enough fat for the suction to stick. As a general rule of thumb, if you can pinch about an inch of fat from your body then you are likely a candidate for CoolSculpting.
